Traditional men’s herbs with stories of strength, resilience and inner peace
Men’s herbs are plants with a special history, rooted in folk medicine, ayurveda, monastery gardens and traditional herbal lore. This seed kit contains six traditional men’s herbs for your herb garden: cultivated dandelion, ashwagandha, goldenrod, common nettle, masterwort and lavender.
This selection combines robust wild herbs, traditional root plants, a key ayurvedic healing plant and calming fragrant plants. Without reducing them to a narrow application, these herbs have long been associated with vitality, grounding, stamina, regeneration and the search for inner peace.
The kit contains these six medicinal plants
-
Cultivated dandelion (Taraxacum officinale): a robust herbal plant with a powerful tap root, edible leaves and a long tradition in European herbal lore.
-
Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera): an important ayurvedic plant, traditionally associated with strength, resilience and regeneration.
-
European goldenrod (Solidago virgaurea): a native healing plant with golden-yellow flowers, traditionally an important plant for herbalists.
-
Organic common nettle (Urtica dioica): a powerful wild plant, long valued as a nutrient-rich, invigorating and versatile herb.
-
Organic masterwort (Peucedanum ostruthium): traditional Alpine medicinal plant with aromatic roots and a special place in monastic and folk medicine.
-
Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia): fragrant medicinal and garden plant that brings calm, balance and Mediterranean culture to this collection.
Traditional herbs for strength and grounding
The concept of “men’s herbs” refers not to any specific botanical group but to herbs and medicinal plants connected, in traditional plant lore, with themes that often resonate with men: strength, stamina, resistance to stress, the urinary system, regeneration, digestion, peace and inner stability. This kit draws on this long herbal tradition, translating it into a men’s herb garden you can grow from seed.
Ashwagandha brings ayurvedic wisdom to the collection. Nettle, dandelion and goldenrod represent resilient native herbs and wild plants. Masterwort brings the power of Alpine herbal wisdom and monastic growing traditions to the kit. Lavender complements this powerful, root-based selection with its fragrance, calm and balance.
Traditional medicinal plants for borders, pots and herb gardens
Many of the plants included here will grow well in herb gardens, borders or large pots. Dandelion, nettle and goldenrod are resilient and vigorous plants and play a valuable role in natural gardens. Lavender loves a sunny, warm, free-draining spot. Masterwort takes a little patience and needs a little space to grow and develop.
Ashwagandha is more warmth-loving than the native herbs and is generally grown as a seasonal plant or in sheltered conditions here. The varieties included have different requirements in terms of sowing, location and care. This is why they are packaged individually, ready for sowing according to their individual needs.
Not a ready-made seed mix but individually packed varieties
This kit is neither a ready-made seed mixture nor a ready-to-use remedy. Each variety is packaged individually so you can grow, observe and harvest it just as you wish. Making this selction especially valuable for men who want not just to use traditional medicinal plants but to experience them as they grow from seed.
Depending on the individual plant, the leaves, flowers, stems, seeds or roots are traditionally gathered and dried. Modern herbalism clearly specifies which parts of the plant are used in each case. This kit has been created to offer seed for growing traditional herbs – it is not intended as a medical recommendation.
Beautifully packaged – a special gift for men
The seed comes packed in a high-quality gift box designed in the style of vintage botanical illustrations. Individual seed packets make it easy to plan and create your garden project. It’s perfect for men who love herb gardens, medicinal plants, old plant traditions, natural wisdom and special seeds.
Sowing and growing
The medicinal plants in the kit have different sowing times and germination requirements. Some can be direct sown where you want them to grow, others will benefit from being started indoors, or from sheltered growing conditions. Many men’s herbs prefer full-sun to semi-shade locations, free-draining soil and regular – but not excessive – watering.
For harvesting the plants are cut or collected at various times, depending on the individual species. Leaves and flowers can be carefully dried and stored for your personal herb collection. A detailed sowing guide can be downloaded via the QR Code on the box. It includes instructions for sowing, growing and harvesting all the varieties and is available in five languages.
Important note on medicinal plants
The plants included in this kit are traditional medicinal plants. They should not be used instead of seeking medical advice. Especially if you have existing complaints, are taking medications, or are unsure how to use these herbs, you should be sure to seek expert advice before doing so.
