Like witloof, radicchio and catalogna, leaf chicory belongs to the chicory salads that all trace back to common chicory.
It's an ideal, last salad for the autumn and winter harvest. Leaf chicory is also a stunner in the bed as it forms firm, oval, and mostly slightly pointy heads. These can reach a height of up to 45cm and weigh around 2kg.

Zaaien en verzorging
Der einjährige Zuckerhutsalat ist ein tolles Wintergemüse. Als Langtagpflanze sollte er erst ab Mitte Juni im Freiland ausgesät werden, da er sonst zum Schossen neigt. Dunkelkeimer, Aussaattiefe:0,5-1cm, optimale Keimtemperatur: +20-25°C. Keimt unkompliziert in 7-14 Tagen. Pflanzabstand: 30-40 cm.
Liebt sonnige bis halbschattige Standorte mit einem durchlässigen, humosen Boden. 8-12 Wochen nach der Aussaat können di festen Köpfe geerntet werden.Eignet sich gut als Lagergemüse.
